Women’s Tennis Final – Guilford 8, William Peace 1

RALEIGH, N.C. – Brooklyn Hopkins won at first singles and first doubles in Guilford College’s 8-1 women’s tennis win at William Peace University Wednesday. The Quakers improved to 1-9 with the win, while the Pacers dropped to 0-12.

Hopkins teamed with Makayla McLaurin for a convincing 8-1 first-doubles win over William Peace’s Manessah Fox and Mackenzie Baden. Olivia La Ganza and Natalie Whitmeyer won at second doubles over Haley Hinton and Ameera Khattab, 8-3. William Peace did not field a third-doubles tandem.

As William Peace had two open singles spots, Quakers’ coach Dave McCain shuffled his lineup. He rested McLaurin at first singles and moved everyone else up a flight, which meant Hopkins took over the top spot. She responded with a 6-4, 6-2, win over Fox.
