FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team fell on the road Saturday to the Monarchs of Methodist University, 22-8.

The Monarchs opened up the contest with an early 5-0 lead.

As Methodist’s offense continued to stay hot over the first half, Peyton Joyce began to catch fire as she put up the Pride’s first three goals.

Joyce went unassisted for all three goals right before Kara Whitson tacked on Greensboro’s fourth goal off an assist from Joyce.

Madison Blashaw put up the Pride’s final goal of the first half off of a feed from Laine Walston as the Monarchs went into halftime with a 15-5 lead.

Greensboro was able to put up three more goals in the second half, but Methodist kept up their fast-pace offense to secure the victory.

“We were not ready to play today and it showed,” Interim Head Coach Jena Miller said. “We simply got outworked.”

Joyce finished the game with a team-high six goals and one assist.
