College Softball Results: Emory & Henry 13-5, Guilford 10-1

EMORY, Va. – The Guilford College softball team lost an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at Emory & Henry on Wednesday. Game scores were 13-10 and 5-1. The Wasps improved to 23-7 and 4-4 in the ODAC. The Quakers dropped to 13-15 and 2-9 in league action.

GC led game one, 10-9, after four and a half innings. The Wasps,
however, scored four times in the bottom of the fifth en route to
victory.

Alex Braun pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and got the win for the
home team. Fellow reliever Katie McNeill allowed four runs in 2 1/3
frames and suffered the loss for Guilford.

Sabrina Moreno went 3-4 with a double, two runs and a stolen base. Makayla Carver hit 3-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kayli Blankenship had two hits and Makayla Crawford knocked a solo home run in the slugfest.

E&H outhit the Quakers, 16-13. Leah Elswick went 4-4 with two runs,
one double and two RBI for EHC. Teammate Caitlyn Hodge went 3-4 with a
homer.

GC suffered its sixth straight defeat after the 5-1 loss in the nightcap. Carver and Moreno both contributed two hits in the contest. Courtney Lackey (6-6) hurled a complete game but took the loss.

The Quakers had eight hits to EHC’s seven in game two. Trailing 5-0, the visitors plated their run in the top of the seventh after Moreno led off the inning with a home run.

For Emory & Henry, Braun (6-0) picked up her second win of the day after recording a complete game. She struck out two and walked no batters.

Erin Anderson went 2-3 with a run and one RBI for the Wasps. Teammate Alex Thomas smacked a solo homer for the home club.

The Quakers host Shenandoah University on Saturday. The ODAC doubleheader begins at noon.
