SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Elon University women’s golf team opened up play at the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship by carding a round of 326 to sit seventh following the first round of play.
College of Charleston paces the eight-team field with a mark of 299.
Heather Munro paced the Phoenix contingent on Friday, shooting a five-over 77 to sit in a tie for 11th out of 39 players. She notched two birdies and nine pars over her first 18 holes of the tournament.
Two strokes back is Katherine Reilly who is tied for 19th. Reilly finished with 10 pars and one birdie.
The duo of Aurelia Hamm and Hilda Kristjansdottir follows. The pair posted rounds of 85 and are tied for 30th. Hamm had seven pars and two birdies, while Kristjansdottir had seven pars and a pair of birdies.
Finally, Adel Vadkerti sits 37th after carding an opening-round 90. She finished with seven pars and one birdie.
Round two of the championship event will be held on Saturday, April 14. The tournament is being held at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
