SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Following a second-round score of 300, the second-lowest mark of any team in the tournament thus far, the Elon University women’s golf team moved into fifth place in the team standings at the 2018 CAA Women’s Golf Championship. The Phoenix has posted a two-round score of 626 and sits four strokes back of fourth place.
College of Charleston paces the eight-team field with a mark of 600.
During Saturday’s action, the team’s played a complete second round and, due to the threat of severe weather on Sunday, played the first nine holes of round three. The round three scores are considered unofficial until the round is complete.
For Elon, Heather Munro continues to rank the highest on the leaderboard. The senior finished round two in a tie for sixth place with a score of 152. She posted 10 pars and a trio of birdies over he second 18 holes to climb five spots in the standings.
Katherine Reilly also sits in the top 15. Reilly carded a 76 with nine pars and three birdies on Saturday. She moved up five spots and is tied for 14th with an overall mark of 155.
The duo of Aurelia Hamm and Adel Vadkerti are tied for 25th with a 162. Vadkerti fired an even-par 72 during Saturday’s second round. She posted eight pars, four birdies and an eagle in round two. Vadkerti is one of just two players to record an eagle over the first 36 holes of play. Hamm notched eight pars and three birdies during round two.
Finally, Hilda Kristjansdottir’s 166 has her tied for 32nd out of 39 players. She had 10 pars and a birdie in round two.
The final round will conclude on Sunday, April 15, beginning at 8 a.m. The tournament is being held at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
