College Women’s Lacrosse Final: Lynchburg 19, Guilford 11

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Alicia Sandoval had three goals and five assists as Lynchburg College defeated Guilford College, 19-11, in an Old DominionAthletic Conference game on Tuesday night. Kelsi Trevisan and Carly Sandler both had four goals for the Hornets in the victory.

The Quakers dropped to 6-8 and 1-5 in ODAC play. LC moved to 6-6 and 4-1 in league action.

Sarah Sedaghat collected a career-best 19 saves for the Quakers. Holly Kozak tallied four times for the visitors. Cat Thresher and Carter MacLeod each scored two goals for GC. Audrey Helfenbein dished two assists for Guilford.

The Quakers never led in the contest. Thresher netted a free positiongoal to tie the game at 4-4 with 11:06 remaining in the first half. Lynchburg, however, then scored the next four goals. The home club led 9-6 at halftime.

In the second half, the Hornets continued to pad their advantage. Thier biggest lead was 18-8 with 7:45 left in the game.

LC led in shots (44-29) and draw controls (16-5). Guilford forced 11 turnovers but had 24 miscues.

Sandoval had four forced turnovers for Lynchburg. Winning goalkeeper Chelsea Shultis stopped 11 GC shots.

Guilford hosts Shenandoah on Saturday (4/21). The ODAC match begins at 12 p.m.
