College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Shenandoah 18, Guilford 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jordyn Miller and Alyson Bittinger scored four goals apiece in Shenandoah University’s 18-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday.

The Hornets improved to 10-5 (4-2 ODAC), while Guilford dropped to 6-9 (1-6 ODAC) with its fifth straight setback.

Miller scored her third goal of the game with 19 minutes left in the first half, which opened a 4-2 Hornets’ lead. After the Quakers’ Madison Iandoli answered to make it a one-goal margin, Shenandoah closed the first half on a 6-2 run that included two Bittinger tallies and led, 10-5, at intermission.

Abby Zorilla scored all three of her goals during a 5-0 Shenandoah spurt that opened the second half and put the game out of reach.

Zorilla added an assist for a four-point game. Cassie Arndt added three goals and six draw controls. Annie McCorry contributed a goal, an assist and a game-best 10 draws that helped the Hornets to a decisive 22-6 edge in the category. Maddie Albornoz went 51-plus minutes in goal and stopped five shots against five goals allowed.

Carter MacLeod’s career-high five points (4 goals, 1 assist) led Guilford’s offense. Madison Iandoli added two goals and an assist. Sarah Sedaghat made 10 saves in goal.

Coach Charlotte Dixon’s club hosts Virginia Wesleyan University on the Quakers’ Senior Day next Saturday (4/28) at 1:00 p.m.
