College Women’s Tennis Final – Shenandoah 9, Guilford 0

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University ended a seven-match women’s tennis losing skid with a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision over visiting Guilford College Friday.

The Hornets improve to 4-10 (2-8 ODAC). The Quakers are 1-13 (0-10 ODAC).

Shenandoah opened a 3-0 lead after three doubles wins, including a pair of 8-5 decisions. Alyssa White and Madison Hansen downed Guilford’s Makayla McLaurin and Brooklyn Hopkins, 8-5, at first doubles. Emma Crue and Madison Rogers followed with an 8-5 decision at second doubles over the Quakers’ Natalie Whitmeyer and Olivia La Ganza. Melodie Madison and Elizabeth Pardo won at third doubles, 8-2.

Shenandoah won the six singles bouts in straight sets, including Pardo’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Kane at sixth singles. The closest singles bout was at the number-five flight where Rogers defeated Megan Kimpel, 6-2, 6-3.

Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers close the season Saturday at league-rival Randolph-Macon College.
