College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Randolph-Macon 15, Guilford 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Randolph-Macon College scored the game’s first seven goals and never looked back in a 15-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday afternoon.

The victory secured Yellow Jackets’ (10-7, 5-4 ODAC) spot in next week’s six-team ODAC Tournament. Guilford’s season ended with a 9-8 overall mark (3-6 ODAC).

Randolph-Macon scored four times in a 102-second span less than three minutes into Guilford’s Senior Day game. Kyle Keepers started and finished the outburst with unassisted goals. Ryan Tiffey also scored twice in the 7-0 run and added an assist.

The Quakers got on the scoreboard on consecutive Derek Spaulding scores, but Keepers answered with the third of his game-high five goals for an 8-2 Randolph-Macon lead after one quarter.

Play settled in the second quarter and Guilford got to within 8-4 on Charlie Kiley’s man-up goal followed by an Aswan Bland tally. The four-goal deficit was as close as the Quakers came, however. Brendan Markovic and Keepers closed the first-half scoring and Randolph-Macon had a 10-4 halftime lead.

Coleman Adams and Tiffey scored 12 seconds apart early in the third quarter for an eight-goal Yellow Jackets’ lead. Guilford drew no closer than six goals for the rest of the game.

Tiffey collected a game-high seven points with three goals and four assists. Adams tallied twice and Colin DiSesa chipped in a goal and an assist. Chris Cerrina went the distance in goal and made 13 saves.

Spaulding’s three goals led Guilford’s offense. Zach Berkowitz also had three points on a goal and an assist. Kiley and Derek Zacatenco both had one goal and one assist. Parker Styles made eight stops in goal and finished his career as the Quakers’ all-time leader in minutes played (2873) and goals-against average (9.50).
