GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro College men’s golf team was one of seven teams to receive a Pool C at-large bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III men’s golf tournament, the NCAA announced Monday.

“I am very happy for our team to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament,” Head Coach Jim Cantamessa said. “The guys have worked hard all season to get to this point, but this is just the start as we join a lot of great teams in a quest for a national title.

“With the tournament being in our own back yard, we would love to see some Greensboro College faithful out there to cheer us on.”

After finishing sixth in at the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament in April, the Pride had to wait to find out if they would qualify for the event via the at-large pool.

This marks the second consecutive season that Greensboro received a Pool C invitation and they will look chase the program’s third national title after finishing fourth one season ago.

The 2017-2018 season has saw the Pride record wins at the Royal Lakes Invitational and the Taylormade Intercollegiate, while also posting second place finishes at Transylvania Fall Invitational and the Gordin Classic.

Seniors Levi Grogan, Luke Grogan and Jacob Neal, along with Scott Campbell and Austin Coble will begin their title quest on May 15 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The 62-hole event will then continue through May 18.

“We are looking forward to having a shot to win another title for Greensboro College,” Neal said. “We are going to go out and compete to our highest potential, and we hope to make the entire Greensboro College community proud.”
