Zadjura Selected to Play in 2018 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

ELON, N.C. – Elon University women’s lacrosse senior defender Alexis Zadjura has been selected to participate in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game next month on Saturday, June 2, in Sparks, Md.

Announced Friday, May 25, Zadjura’s selection marks the second-straight year an Elon student-athlete has been selected to partake in the game. Last year, Sloane Kessler – Elon’s all-time assist leader – represented the Phoenix.

Zadjura is among the 44 Division I athletes selected to participate. Each NCAA Division has been divided into North and South teams with Zadjura representing Elon and the South Team. Saturday’s game will be held at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters at 11:30 a.m. The contest will be streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com. Admission to each of the games for Division I, II and III is free. The Division II game will follow the D-I game with the D-III game closing the day.

One of three team captains this season, Zadjura started all 15 games on the year and finished with 24 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 18 draw controls on the way to being named a Second Team All-CAA honoree for the second-straight campaign. The 22 caused turnovers led the program in 2018 while her 24 ground balls and 18 draw controls both finished third. With her collegiate career in the books, Zadjura ends with the second-most ground balls (112), draw controls (95) and caused turnovers (71) in program history. With 68 starts, Zadjura started every game Elon played throughout her time in maroon and gold.

Zadjura is one of seven CAA players selected to participate in the game. She is joined by James Madison’s Elena Romesburg, Haley Warden and Rebecca Tooker and Towson’s Kaitlyn Montalbano, Emily Gillingham and Tianna Wallpher. The South Team is coached by James Madison’s Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe.
