Case Competes in 800m at NCAA East Prelims

TAMPA, Fla.—High Point University women’s track and field junior Keaton Case finished action in the 800 meters on the first day of the NCAA East Preliminaries Thursday afternoon (May 24) at the USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

Case finished seventh in her heat and 43rd overall in a time of 2:09.55. It was Case’s first NCAA appearance. Her school record in the 800m of 2:07.82 came at the Duke Invitational in April and she earned All-Big South honors in the event after being the runner-up at the Big South Championships at Vert Stadium.

The action at the NCAA East Prelims for High Point concludes Friday (May 25) with five student-athletes in competition. Freshman Nathalie Elliott will be compete in the women’s pole vault at 9:30 a.m., senior Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine will throw in the women’s discus at 1:15 p.m. and freshman Famke Heinst will run in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase at 8:40 p.m. On the men’s side, senior Alejandro Juan Torres and freshman Hocine Bouchrak will be in action in the 3,000m steeplechase at 8 p.m.
