GREENSBORO GRASSHOPPERS ANNOUNCE FESTIVITIES PLANNED FOR THE 2018 SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE
All-Star Game presented by Pizza Hut

GREENSBORO, NC – As the Greensboro Grasshoppers prepare to host the 2018 South Atlantic League All-Star Game presented by Pizza Hut on Tuesday, June 19, the team has announced the complete list of festivities available to baseball fans across the region. Gates open for the All-Star Game at 4:00 p.m., and tickets include admission to a pre-game autograph session with both teams, home run derby, the game featuring your favorite SAL All-Star player and post game fireworks!

The game will be preceded by the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame Luncheon on June 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring Greensboro native and Olympic Gold Medal-winning speed-skater Joey Cheek as the featured speaker. The luncheon – which also features the SAL Hall of Fame inductions of Ken Free, Jim Melvin, and Donald Moore – will be held at The Terrace at Greensboro Coliseum. LAKEWOOD, N.J.- Ryan Lillie tossed his second straight complete-game shutout as Greensboro snuck past Lakewood, 2-0, in seven innings in a fog-shortened affair on Thursday at FirstEnergy Park. Play halted in the middle of the seventh inning when the fog thickened.

Zach Sullivan drove in the game’s only runs in the top of the fifth inning when the Hoppers outfielder belted a 2-run home run (2) to left field, scoring Cameron Baranek.

Lakewood manager Marty Malloy was ejected in the middle of the seventh, arguing the game should have continued.++++++++++
