(from John Dell with the Winston-Salem Journal on Twitter)……

Randy Norris Jr., from Dudley High School/High Point Andrews HS and Winston-Salem State University, along with his close friends, family, and coaches, will have all eyes on the MLB Draft board, when Day Two of the 2018 MLB Draft gets rolling today….

Randy Norris is projected as a Round 4-10 player and with the fourth round, Norris will start watching and anxiously waiting to hear his name called, today/Tuesday….Norris has heard from several major league teams and now, on this Tuesday June 5, 2018 the waiting game begins….

Norris and his crew will have the draft staked out from their spot/perch over in High Point and at around 1pm, it will be time to start checking all of the charts….Good luck to ‘little Randy’….

D.J. Artis, from Southeast Guilford High School and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, is a college junior, just like Randy Norris Jr. and Artis has had some right hamstring problems in the past year, but the pro scouts have given him the “all clear” sign and Artis looks to be primed to get “Prime Time” today and here is the D.J. Artis skinny, from the Lynchburg Daily New and Advance…..

The Greensboro, North Carolina, native left little doubt regarding his health and ability.

Artis enjoyed another stellar season with Liberty and has been projected to be selected early on the second day of the draft, which began on Monday.

“I’m really excited,” Artis said in a phone interview.

*****ESPN’s Keith Law has Artis at 87th on his draft big board*****, saying Artis is “a plus-plus runner who can play a good center field. He’s a smaller guy but shows good hand strength.”

**********Baseball America lists Artis as the No. 149 overall prospect and No. 3 from Virginia. MLB.com rates Artis as the No. 136 prospect in its top 200**********, noting his “skill set, not to mention his track record, has kept him fairly high on draft boards.”

+++++Hoping to see some UNCG names going in the draft today or tomorrow too, with maybe Matt Frisbee(P), Andrew Moritz(OF) and Cesar Trejo(INF), being possibilities from many of our local lists….Middle Rounds of the MLB Draft today and late rounds on Wednesday…..Boy that Griffin Conine, from Duke University and the son of former major leaguer Jeff Conine, is looking like a very good pick/selection by the Toronto Blue Jays, from Day One/Monday of the draft….Had talked to Jack McKeon, World Series Champion manager with the Florida Marlins and Jack said Conine could be a “keeper”, if he got his bat moving again and from what we saw on Monday, versus Georgia, Conine has it going/moving his way again….+++++
