Elon Softball Announces 2018 Fall Schedule
ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball team and head coach Kathy Bocock announced its 2018 fall schedule on Monday, Sept. 17. The Phoenix’s slate is highlighted by two home dates at Hunt Softball Park and three matchups versus opponents from the ACC.
“I’m excited about the start of our fall ball season,” said Bocock, who enters her eighth season as the head coach at Elon. “We have a significant number of first-year players and newcomers on our team this year and this will help them get the experience they need on how they are going to impact us this season. This is a great opportunity for us as a coaching staff and a team to develop as we prepare to compete for the spring season.”
Elon was originally scheduled to open its fall season last Saturday, Sept. 15, in a twin bill in Greensboro, N.C., versus Coker and host UNCG, but inclement weather due to Hurricane Florence forced the postponement of those contests. As of now, there is no rescheduled date for those games.
The Phoenix kicks off the first of its two home fall dates on Friday, Sept. 28, versus Louisburg College in a doublehader at Hunt Softball Park. The first game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Elon heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sunday, Sept. 30, for a matchup versus North Carolina and East Carolina. Following those contests, the Phoenix returns for its fall home finale versus Duke in a single game on Oct. 4, at 6 p.m.
The fall season concludes with a visit to in-state foe NC State on Friday, Oct. 19. That game begins at 6 p.m.
