ELON, N.C. – Elon University senior offensive lineman CJ Toogood has been tabbed a 2018 Third Team FCS All-American Tuesday, Dec. 11, by the Associated Press.

The honor marks Elon’s 12th AP All-America nod and the first since wide receiver Aaron Mellette earned First Team distinction in 2012. Toogood is just the sixth student-athlete in Elon’s Division I era to earn AP All-America honors with three individuals making the list on multiple occasions. He is also the first offensive lineman to earn the recognition for the Phoenix.

A First Team All-CAA Football honoree last month after earning Preseason All-CAA honors before the season, Toogood started all 11 games and helped Elon’s rushing attack average 199.5 yards per outing to finish second in the conference in the category. He also blocked for a running game that scored 22 of the team’s 31 touchdowns on the year while also allowing a CAA-low 16 sacks throughout the campaign.

Toogood is one of eight CAA Football athletes to earn AP All-America honors and is the only offensive lineman from the league to earn the distinction.
