MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Greensboro College men’s soccer team sailed past the Hawks of Huntingdon College Friday 5-1.

Greensboro (9-5-2, 7-2-1 USA South) got on the board first in the sixth minute after Gerado Peraza found the back of the net off of an assist from Jovan Cotton. Just 14 minutes later, Peraza helped extend the Greensboro lead when he connected with Alexander Bishop, who tucked the ball away for his second goal of the season.

However, Huntingdon (6-8-0, 3-7-0 USA South) got one goal back less than one minute later before Cotton struck for the fourth time this season to give the Pride a 3-1 halftime lead.

In the early part of the second half, Greensboro got a goal off of an own-goal by the Hawks before Alexander Sargent struck the back of the net off of Peraza’s third assist of the afternoon. Greensboro then held strong over the final 26 minutes of play to secure the four-goal victory. Elmer Martinez was credited with the win after recording one save.

The Pride men will return to action Saturday when they complete their two-game USA South Athletic Conference road trip as they take on the Panthers of LaGrange College. For more information on Greensboro College men’s soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
