College Volleyball Final: Guilford 3, Lynchburg 0 (ODAC Quarterfinals)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford volleyball’s Christian Ritter notched a team-leading 10 kills as the Quakers defeated the University of Lynchburg 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-12) Wednesday night during the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinals.

The first set of the match was the most tightly contested as both teams fought for the upper hand. With the score tied at 13-13, Guilford went on a 6-0 run to take the 19-13 advantage. The Hornets were able to cut the deficit to within two points (22-20) but the Quakers held on to secure the 25-21 victory.

Guilford (19-7) once again jumped out an early lead in the second set and never let up en route to the 25-17 set win. Khaira Bolden led the way for the Quakers in the second frame with five kills.

The Quakers notched a decisive 25-12 win in the third set behind six kills from Ritter and five blocks from Bolden. Guilford also held the Hornets to a .000 team hitting percentage during the frame to secure the match sweep.

Offensively, Bolden and Cam Blankenship each contributed eight kills. Tina Eucker led the team in assists with 26, while Ritter and Bryce Smith each picked up nine digs. At the net, both Bolden and Michaela Allred each had five blocks throughout the match.

For Lynchburg (16-10), Emma Drake recorded a team-leading 11 kills. Alexis Davies-Hackenberg had 15 assists and Lauren Stanford added 14 digs.

The victory marks the Quakers’ first ODAC Tournament win since the 1997 season. Guilford’s 19 wins this season is also the most since 1995.

Coach Emily Gann’s Quakers advance to the ODAC Tournament semifinals where they will face Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday.
