Coach Wayne Jones stepping down as the head football coach at High Point Central High School

For the first time in 13 years, High Point Central will be searching for a new Head Football coach.

Coach Wayne Jones will be retiring at the end of this school year and will not return to lead the Bison on the gridiron. The 2013 Piedmont Triad 4A Coach of the Year has been a member of the coaching staff at HPC for the last 30 years.

Coach Jones serves as Head Indoor Track coach, Head Men’s Outdoor Track coach, as well as Physical Education instructor.

Throughout his decades of service to HPC, Coach Jones has helped hundreds of student-athletes in the classroom and in athletics. Under his tutelage, over 50 student-athletes have gone on the receive college scholarships in both football and track.

The High Point Central Athletic Department is immensely grateful to Coach Jones for his hard work and dedication to our school and our student-athletes. We are also excited to find the next person who will lead our football program.
