Elon’s Davis Earns Final CAA Football Weekly Honor of 2019

RICMOND, Va. – Elon University football placekicker Skyler Davis has been named the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday, Nov. 25.

Davis saved his best showing of the season for last, hitting all three of his attempted field goals Saturday at No. 19 Towson while connecting on two point after attempts to help the Phoenix come from behind in the final quarter to defeat the Tigers 25-23. The sophomore hit the game-winning 35-yard field goal with 41 seconds to play after connecting on a 29-yarder that pulled Elon within one at 23-22 with 7:09 to go in the fourth. The Acworth, Ga., native also hit a 40-yarder in the second quarter to get Elon’s first points of the day on the board.

For the season, Davis finished 10-for-15 from the field and did not miss a PAT, going 34-for-34. For his career, Davis is a perfect 65-for-65 on PATs and is 27-of-37 on field goals with a career-long make of 50 coming this season against No. 2 James Madison.

With the 2019 season in the books, Elon turns its attention to the offseason and will sign the newest members of the program with Early Signing Day on Wednesday, Dec. 18, before looking ahead to Signing Day the first week of February.

With the 2020 football schedule announced last week, Elon will next be back on the field Sept. 5 for a road matchup against The Citadel. Next season, Elon will open with two on the road at The Citadel and Duke (Sept. 12) before playing at Rhodes Stadium on Sept. 19 against Campbell.
