Phifer Named USA South Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Michael Phifer(Greensboro College/Morehead High School) has been named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference, the conference office announced Monday.

Phifer, a senior forward from Eden, N.C., averaged a double-double of 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game to go along with 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals as the Pride posted a 1-1 record last week.

In a 90-73 loss to Division I High Point, Phifer posted a team-high 22 points with five rebounds, four assists and two steals. In a 95-80 victory over Warren Wilson, Phifer became the first player in Greensboro men’s basketball history to score at least 20 points and grab at least 20 rebounds in a single game. Phifer totaled 21 points and tied a single-game program record with 20 rebounds while also adding three assists, two steals and one block in the win.
