Former Dudley Panther Basketball Player Aaron Thomas dies after being shot and left laying in a yard:Tough way to see another young life come to an end

Aaron Thomas wore the #5 for the Dudley Panthers basketball team and he was a senior for the Panthers back in 2015-2016..He wore #5 then, and now Aaron Thomas is #40…Forty(40) homicides in Greensboro in 2019….

Aaron was found shot and laying in a yard on Wednesday morning….He was transported to the local hospital, where he later died….

Just 21 years old and gone way too soon

Thomas averaged 6.8 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game and he hit a season-high of 20 points scored, on November 19, 2015 and that same game, versus High Point Andrews, Thomas grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 5 assists…

Aaron Thomas was a 6’2/170 pound guard for the Dudley Panthers, and that season, 2015-2016, Dudley finished (18-8) and (8-3) in the Metro 4-A Conference….Dudley, at (8-3) tied Smith for first place in the conference standings…

Dudley was coached that season(2015-2016) by Brian Seagraves, and on that same 2015-2016 team that season with Aaron Thomas, were some names from the past you might remember in, Hendon Hooker, Brion Seagraves, Franklin ‘Mac’ McCain and Dematus Gilmore….They all hung around like brothers back in those days and they seemed like brothers, on and off of the basketball court…

A true brother and a friend, Aaron Thomas is gone and he wore #5 for the Dudley Panthers and now he is #40 in homicides, in Greensboro, in 2019…

It seems like we need to remember him for being much more than that…

RIP:Aaron Thomas(1998-2019)

  1. Swann Middle School boys basketball defeated Ferndale boys 59-17. Swann coming off Championship season dominated from the tip-off. The Swann Lions had a strong performance from Alex Taylor and Jamarie Davis.

  2. Sounds like a dominating performance from Swann…One I’m sure Mel Swann and Aaron Thomas both would have been proud of…
