East Forsyth used a stifiling defense & patient offensive approach to defeat home-standing Mount Airy 47-36 Thursday night. The win, the first for the Eagles this season, came in their seventh road game in eight starts.

East led by as many as 25 points (46-21) before clearing the bench and limited the Granite Bears, now 6-4, to 21% shooting for the game in holding Mount Airy without a two-point field goal for the first 28:04 of the game.

The Eagles never trailed but opened the game up in a five-minute stretch across the final quarter break by stretching their 28-17 with 11 straight including a resounding fast-break dunk by Zyun Reeves, the game’s leading scorer with 13 points.

Reeves also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds & blocked six shots. Will Rhodes added 11 points, 3 steals & 3 assists for the winners & Trey Rhodes contributed nine rebounds and 2 blocks for East. Jason Hill & Brooks Sizemore led the Granite Bears with eight points each.

East Forsyth will play only it’s second home game of the 2019-20 season tomorrow night against Ragsdale, who defeated the Eagles 51-45 in the second game of the season two weeks ago in Jamestown. The Eagles begin Central Piedmont 4A Conference play next Tuesday night at home against West Forsyth.
