Men’s Basketball Suffers First Conference Loss of the Season Against William Peace

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s basketball team dropped their first USA South Athletic Conference game of the season Saturday against the Pacers of William Peace University 101-83.

Greensboro opened the game on a 7-2 run before the Pacers used a 9-3 run of their own to take an 11-10 lead with 16:31 showing on the clock. Over the next two minutes, William Peace was able to extend their lead out to nine, but the Pride was able to go on a 13-4 run over the next 4:22 to tie the game at 25. Eric Peaks Jr. had four points during the run, while Sean McCabe had three.

Following the run, the Pacers quickly regained a five-point lead before Greensboro took a 31-30 edge on a layup by Keyford Langley.

The two teams then traded the lead back and forth over the final seven minutes of the half before William Peace hit a last second three-pointer to take a 50-48 lead into the break.

In the second half, Greensboro struggled from the field and the Pacers were able to capitalize. William Peace established their largest lead of the game at 20 points before going on to secure the 18-point victory.

Michael Phifer finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Langley, Peaks Jr., and Greyson Collins each had 13 points.
