Maryland Terrapins get the big Big Ten win on Sunday at Indiana, with local Aaron Wiggins(WES/Grimsley HS) part of the “Fear the Turtle” attack

Aaron Wiggins(Wesleyan Christian Academy/Grimsley HS) from Greensboro, N.C. with 8 points on Sunday afternoon, to go along with his three rebounds in 26 minutes of action, as Aaron and his Maryland Terrapins were able to get the Big Ten win, on CBS television/WFMY TV 2 locally…

Maryland topped Indiana, 77-76 in Bloomington, Indiana, and to beat the Hoosiers on their own home court, that is saying something for Aaron Wiggins and his fellow-Terrapins…..

The CBS announcer Kevin Harlan and his color commentator Jim Spanarkel kept saying Wiggins on the rebound, or Wiggins nails the three, in key moments in this contest…Wiggins was 2-5 from three-point range on Sunday, and his 3’s seem to come at key points in the game….

Great to catch a local product on national TV on Sunday and thanks to WFMY TV 2 for carrying the Big Ten matchup…

We don’t get to see ACC Basketball on local television outlets any more, so the average paying customer, is completely shut off from ACC Basketball, thanks to the fine people over at the ACC Network…

Nice to be able to still see some quality college basketball these days since the ACC has made the choice to alienate their true heritage fan base…Well we still have the car radio, but it can be a little cold sitting outside in the non-moving car on a January afternoon….

Thanks again ACC for the excellent job you did in turning your back on your long-time fans….The tournament should be a load of fun this season, and I may need to get the batteries charged up on my portable radio and maybe get a new car battery…..Again no qualms with WFMY News 2, we got to see the local kid Aaron Wiggins today and that made us think back to his days growing up across the street from the Forest Valley outdoor basketball court, there in the old neighborhood….

from the Maryland Terrapins’ athletics website:
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Jalen Smith capped a last-minute comeback by making the go-ahead layup with 14 seconds left Sunday to give No. 17 Maryland a 77-76 victory at Indiana.

The Terrapins (16-4, 6-3 Big Ten) trailed by six with 1:25 left in the game. But they held the Hoosiers scoreless and scored the final seven points to win their third in a row.

Indiana had a chance to win it but Trayce Jackson-Davis’ short jumper bounced off the rim and Smith grabbed the rebound as the buzzer sounded.

Smith, an All-American candidate who has posted three consecutive double-doubles, finished with a career-high 29 points. He also had 11 rebounds.

Devonte Green scored 16 points and Jackson-Davis had 13 to lead the Hoosiers (15-5, 5-4), who had won their previous two games and were trying to sweep two ranked foes this week.

It was a frenzied finish to a wild game.

Indiana opened the second half in a 45-36 deficit after enduring a 3-point frenzy in the first half, then charged back to open up a 67-59 with 7:34 left and were still up six following Green’s final basket.

But after Smith scored on a layup, he stole the inbound pass and Aaron Wiggins hit a 3 with 55 seconds to go, cutting the deficit to 76-75.

Green then missed a midrange jumper, Wiggins grabbed the rebound and Smith made the winner following a timeout.
