Guilford Women’s Swimming Placed 10th at ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College finished 10th at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Swimming Championships Sunday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Quakers scored 76 points in the 12-team competition, which ran February 6-9.

Washington and Lee University won its league-record 30th team title with 991.5 points. Roanoke College placed second with 560.5 points. Randolph-Macon College claimed third place with 516 points.

The Quaker 400 freestyle relay team of two freshmen Molly Hunt and Megan Cessna and two seniors: Susan Dillinger and Carolyn O’Halloran, set a new program record. The quarter swam the race in 4:07.47, shattering the mark set in 2013 of 4:22.69. Guilford placed 10th in the event.

In the 1650 freestyle, freshman Kayla Krest swam the fourth-fastest Quaker time in the event. Her 25:59.79 clocking also resulted in a 25th place finish at the championships.

The ODAC Championships mark the end of the season for coach Brad Herndon’s club. Guilford posted an 8-3 overall record in dual-meet competitions. In November, the Quaker placed first in the six-team in the William Peace Fall Invitational. It was the first invitational win in program history. As many as 10 swimmers will return to Guilford next year.
