High School Basketball Tonight Finals…….
Senior Night at the Roger Nelson Gym on the Northwest Guilford campus:
Ragsdale girls 45, Northwest Guilford 38
Both teams now (6-1) in the Metro 4-A Conference…Ragsdale now (19-3) overall and NWG girls at (2-3) overall…Both teams are very even, but the momentum has now swung towards the Ragsdale Tigers, after their win on Northwest Guilford’s home court tonight/Wednesday…

Diamond Monroe with 18 points and Nyah Stallings with 15 points to pace the Ragsdale Tigers scoring….More on that coming up…Reagan Kargo with 16 points to lead the NWG girls in scoring…Mariah Frazier with the “D” on Reagan Kargo, as she kept Kargo pretty well bottled up in the second half, with Ragsdale utilizing a “Box-and-One” on NWG and the one, and it was usually Frazier, running with Reagan Kargo and looking to get her winded and Frazier doing anything she could to throw off Kargo’s shooting…

Ragsdale started the game with their two Bigs, Palmore and Maros and that helped clog up the middle some on defense early in the game, and it also gave Ragsdale an extra big rebounder on the boards..

More Rasdale scoring to go along with Diamond Monroe’s 18 pts. and Nyah Stallings with her 15 pts., you had Mariah Frazier with 6 points, Katarina Maros with 4 points, and Aijah Palmore with 2 points…

More NWG scoring to go along with Reagan Kargo’s 16 points you had, Thalia Carter with 6 pts., Aniston Greene had 5 pts., Megan Harkey had 4 pts., Hannah Baker had 3 pts., and Shaena Riddles and Jadyn Murray had 2 points each…
(Northwest Guilford’s Reagan Kargo was honored/recognized for scoring her 1,500th points as a Northwest Guilford Viking, prior to tonight’s game with Ragsdale HS.)

Ragsdale coach Ben Bradford said the win by Ragsdale over Northwest Guilford was a relief…He said it was good to see his team get over the hump, and knock off the NWG Vikings this season….Coach Bradford said he knew his team was close and that they were going to get NWG, and he is very proud of his girls and the job they did on the road and the job they did finishing, to get the victory this evening…

Bradford said he went with the his two Bigs together in the starting lineup(Palmore and Maros), to give Northwest a different look…Ben Bradford, “The key to defeating Northwest was trying to stop or slow down Reagan Kargo”…”It is almost impossible to stop here entirely, but if you can slow her down, and make her work for her shots, this makes her job tougher and in the end it can help you get the results that you are looking for, and that is the win”…
(Ragdale also Big at the free throw line down the stretch, with Monroe, Stallings and Frazier, all nailing key FT’s and it the fourth quarter those free throws helped put the ‘money in the bank’, for the Tigers, and it was at the Charity Stripe, where the Tigers were able to cash in.)

Coach Bradford called Nyah Stallings his senior guard, “A stud”…”She knows what to do, and she gets it done”…”These kids know I yell and scream at them during the game and they are used to it, and then off of the court, we laugh and have a good time”….Coach Bradford also knows, it is always easier to have good time, after you win…Two more “Studs” for Ragsdale are Diamond Monroe and Mariah Frazier…

Ben Bradford said Diamond Monroe is now getting healthy and she is much more confident and she can be tough again….”Now Monroe/Diamond can go Full Force and you can see the difference in her scoring and ball-handling…Monroe is a Stud”…

Coach Bradford said Mariah Frazier is a “Defensive Stud”…We have said here on this website, GreensboroSports.com, on more than one occasion, that Frazier is one of the best, if not the best defensive player in the state for the girls….Coach Bradford did us one better…Ben Bradford said Mariah Frazier is not only the top Defensive Player in the state of North Carolina for the girls, “Mariah Frazier is the best Defensive Player that Ben Bradford has ever coached”…….

Those three Studs in Stallings, Monroe and Frazier, and then add in a great supporting cast including Katarina Maros, Aijah Palmore, Alyssa Bradford, Victoria Boddie, Megan Byrd, Erin Mackie, Moriah Simmons and others and the Ragsdale Tigers have found a formula for success….

Boys Final:Northwest Guilford 100, Ragsdale 69
NWG boys are now (20-3/7-0) in the Metro 4-A Conference and they are headed over to face (6-1) Grimsley on Friday night, for the Boys Metro 4-A Regular Season Conference Crown….Ragsdale boys(8-15/2-5)…

NWG Boys Scoring:Dean Reiber 26; Chris Hampton 18; Robbie Boulton 15; Josh Humphrey 11; Shaq Marsh 8; Brandon Thomas 7; Jackson Hartzell 6; Drew Watkins 6; Conner Ballou 3
(Christian Hampton was honored/recognized for scoring his 1,000th point as a Northwest Guilford Viking, prior to tonight’s game vs. Ragsdale, and Dean Reiber was honored this season for reaching the 1000th point mark, as a Northwest Guilford Viking.)
