College Women’s Tennis News: Methodist 8, Guilford 1

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Natalie Collins, Kamdyn Balko, and Victoria Trevino all notched wins in doubles and singles to lead the Methodist University women’s tennis team to an 8-1 victory over Guilford College on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Methodist improved to 2-3 on the season and Guilford dropped to 0-2.

The Monarchs took a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The pairing of Alex Pratt and Collins defeated Madyson Schreiber and Delaney Taylor 8-1 in first singles, while Allyson Hays and Sydney Bird took down Abby Boohar and Megan Kimpel by the same score in third singles. The second singles duo of Balko and Trevino battled Hannah Pardue and Hannah Arnett to an 8-6 win.

Guilford’s lone win of the day came in the first singles slot as Schreiber bested Pratt in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 10-4). Balko, Collins, Trevino, Casey Carroll, and Savannah Lee all earned two-set wins in their singles matches to secure the 8-1 overall victory for Methodist.

Coach Kim Kleimeier’s ’13 Quakers are back in action at Ferrum College on February 21 at 3 p.m.
