FOREST, Va. – Guilford College redshirt-sophomore guard Jorden Davis (Durham, N.C./Durham Academy (Roanoke)) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award Monday. He is the first Quaker so honored this season.

The 6-0, 170-pound guard averaged a team-high 26.5 points per game in a pair of league wins last week. He made 13-of-25 shots from the floor in two games, including 6-of-12 three-point shots. Davis also made 21 of 22 free throws, grabbed 11 rebounds, and distributed six assists in the two contests. He poured in a game- and career-high 29 points in a February 12 road triumph over the University of Lynchburg. Davis made all 10 free throws in the game and also picked up four rebounds and two assists. He made eight-of-14 field goals in the game, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. In Saturday’s 93-68 rout of league-rival Hampden-Sydney College, Davis hit for a team- and game-best 24 points. He made three of Guilford’s school-record 17 trifectas in the game, and also collected seven rebounds and four assists.

Davis is Guilford’s second-leading scorer (11.9 ppg.) and ranks third in the ODAC with a team-high 81 free throws. His .771 free-throw percentage stands 10th among league leaders and his club-high 34 steals stand eighth. Davis has 12 games with 10 or more points and has led Guilford’s scorers six times.

Coach Tom Palombo’s Quakers (17-7, 9-6 ODAC) have won three straight games and five of their last seven headed into Saturday’s 2:00 p.m. regular-season finale with league-leading Randolph-Macon College. The Yellow Jackets are ranked third in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and defeated the Quakers, 64-39, in their prior meeting last month in Ashland, Virginia.
