College Women’s Basketball Final:Guilford 65, Randolph 34/Sophomore Lindsay Gauldin(Northwest Guilford HS) steps up with a Double-Double(15 pts./10 rebounds) on Senior Day

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Miracle Walters led all scorers with 16 points as Guilford College downed Randolph College, 65-34, in the last regular-season Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game of the year.

The Quakers (14-9, 10-8 ODAC) started the contest with a quick three-pointer from Calyn Davis and never looked back as they led wire to wire.

Randolph (7-18, 2-16 ODAC) kept it close in the first quarter however with a 5-0 run in the last minute and a half of the frame to cut Guilford’s lead to 10-7.

The Wildcats came within four points twice in the second quarter before the Quakers went on an 8-2 run (4:29-1:10) of their own to stretch the advantage out to 28-13 at the half.

In the third quarter, Randolph attempted to keep the game close, even coming within six points of the lead but Guilford kept the Wildcat offense at bay.

Guilford opened the final 10 minutes of play with 12 unanswered points and continued to dominate offensively as it outscored Randolph, 25-4, to ultimately earn the 65-34 victory.

Walters added a team-high six assists and two steals to go with her 16 points. Lindsay Gauldin(Northwest Guilford HS) recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Also finishing in double-digit scoring was Davis with 13 points.

For the Wildcats, Yanessa Cabrera led the way with 14 points, five steals, and four rebounds. Cameron O’Neil and Kayln Banks each added a team-high four boards.

Prior to today’s contest, Guilford honored its three seniors, Walters, Julie Carini, and Alli Jackson, for their hard work and dedication to the team.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers host Virginia Wesleyan Monday (2/24) for an ODAC Tournament first-round contest at 7 p.m. in Ragan-Brown Field House.
