Liz Kitley(Northwest Guilford High School) named ACC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the third consecutive season, the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year hails from Louisville, as junior guard Dana Evans secured this season’s honor from the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel and the ACC’s 15 head coaches.

Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley(Northwest Guilford High School) was tabbed the ACC Rookie of the Year, while Boston College’s Joanna Bernabei-McNamee was voted ACC Coach of the Year.

Starting with her collegiate debut in which she scored 27 points, the second-best debut in Virginia Tech history for any player, Kitley has continued to play at a high level during her freshman campaign. She is the first Hokies player to garner the conference’s Rookie of the Year award.

The Summerfield, North Carolina, native, whose three ACC Freshman of the Week selections led the conference this season, averaged 12.4 points per game and 7.6 rebounds. Kitley was second in the ACC with 60 blocks and recorded a league-best eight in the Hokies’ victory at Notre Dame.
