ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s tennis team earned its fourth win of the season on Wednesday, March 4 when it defeated the College of Charleston, 6-1.
“I thought this was the most competitive match we have played all year from beginning to end,” said head coach Michael Leonard. “We came out strong in dubs and we carried that momentum into singles. Han played his best match of the year.”
HIGHLIGHTS
The Phoenix swept the doubles matches. Camilo Ponce and Sam Dively along with the Chung-Han Tsai and Dino Bonetta took home 6-1 victories, while Kyle Frankel and Nicholas Condos followed with a 6-4 win.
In singles, Kyle Frankel started the Phoenix off with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ben Cawston in No. 1 singles. Tsai captured a 6-2, 6-0 win, while Condos and Ponce recorded 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-3 victories. Dively wrapped the match up with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) win over Robby Krick.
