RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Victor Stromsten of the Elon University men’s soccer team was tabbed the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, March 1.
In his first collegiate game and in the Phoenix’s season-opener versus Shaw, Stromsten registered his first career goal in the 42nd minute of action, scoring off of a rebound from his own shot to extend Elon’s lead to 3-1. Earlier in the game, Stromsten logged his first career assist in the 38th minute when he played the ball to Mattias Cooper who finished the goal to tie the game at 1-1. In Elon’s matchup with UNCG, Stromsten tied for the team-lead in shots on goal with one.
The Phoenix will be back in action on Sunday, March 7, when it takes on VCU at 6 p.m. at Rudd Field on Elon’s campus.
