Greensboro College’s Lauren Livingston Claims USA South Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

ROME, Ga.—-Greensboro College’s Lauren Livingston was tabbed as the USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) Freshman of the Week by the league earlier today, the first honor for the freshman guard this season.

Livingston is coming off a week where she set a new career-high in scoring twice with two games where she scored more than 30 points. Livingston posted a 31-point effort in Friday night’s game against Pfeiffer University inside Hanes Gym. The freshman shot nine-for-19 from the field and ten-for-13 from the foul line. Livingston also notched six rebounds and amassed a career-high eight assists in the 80-74 victory to start out the weekend.

Livingston truly flexed her muscle two days later as the Pride traveled to Pfeiffer to wrap up the home-and-home series. Livingston took charge in the final four minutes of the third quarter, scoring the Pride’s final 13 points of the period as the Pride went into the final quarter up nine points, 65-56. Livingston continued her run in the fourth quarter, capping her personal run at 20 points with 6:23 left in the contest to give the Pride an eleven-point lead. She finished with a new career-high 35 points and a career-high ten rebounds to notch her first career double-double as the Pride claimed the victory over the Falcons Sunday afternoon, 86-79.

Over the past four games, Livingston has averaged 27.5 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. In the Pride’s four-game winning streak, she has shot 28-for-67 from the field (41.8 percent) and 41-for-52 (78.8 percent) from the foul line. Livingston’s season average of 18.6 points per game stands fifth in the USA South and her 3.5 assists per game stands seventh in the league.

Livingston and the Pride, as a result of their four-straight wins, earned the four-seed in the USA South Women’s Basketball East Division Tournament that begins Wednesday. Greensboro travels to North Carolina Wesleyan College for a 5 p.m. semi-final matchup.
