Legendary Wrestling Promoter Jim Crockett Jr. “In Grave Condition”
A medical update on Jim Crockett Jr., who sadly isn’t doing too well…

Legendary professional wrestling promoter Jim Crockett Jr. is dealing with what sound like some serious health issues.

Speaking on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer described Crockett’s condition as “grave,” saying things weren’t looking good for the 76-year-old.

This came following the Crockett Sports Promotions’ Facebook page posting that Jim was “in the hospital and not doing well” over the weekend. No further details on his condition have been disclosed at this time.

Jim Crockett Jr. is best known for his work as the promoter of Jim Crockett Promotions, taking over from his father, Jim Sr., upon his passing in 1973. Operating primarily out of the Carolinas, JCP was among the National Wrestling Alliance’s most popular and successful territories during the ’70s and ’80s, and one of the last bastions of defence against the then-WWF’s national expansion in the mid-80s.

Ultimately, Crockett was defeated. Driven close to bankruptcy, Jim sold his group to Ted Turner in November 1988, with Turner renaming the promotion World Championship Wrestling, which stood as Vince McMahon’s closest opposition until its purchase in 2001.

Elected NWA President thrice during his run as a promoter, Crockett attempted to return to wrestling in 1994 before retiring, settling into a career as a realtor and mortgage loan originator in his final working years.
