Greensboro College Volleyball Drops Two at William Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.—Greensboro College’s Carly Uhlir tallied 14 kills and 27 digs as the Pride dropped two contests to William Peace University Saturday afternoon. The Pacers took the first USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) contest, 3-0 (26-24, 25-12, 25-9), and the second non-conference contest, 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-18, 25-14).

The Pride (7-6, 4-3 USA South) and the Pacers (12-1, 7-0 USA South were entangled in a tight contest in the first match as Greensboro it .270 compared to William Peace’s .268. No lead was larger than three at any point of the first set as both sides went back and forth with momentum. The Pride faced set point with a 24-23 lead, but the Pacers rallied for the next three points to claim the set.

William Peace hit .480 in the second set and then .467 in the third set as they claimed sets two and three. William Peace combined for just three attack errors in the final two sets to post high-hitting numbers.

Greensboro rallied back from a 25-18 first-set loss in the second match to claim the second set, 25-19. The Pride hit .214 for the set and tallied kills on 14 of 25 points in the set. Greensboro out-hit William Peace in the third set, .179 to .163, but the Pacers capitalized on Greensboro’s non-attacking errors to claim the third set. William Peace would hit .429 in the fourth set to claim the set and win the match.

Sarah Oakes led the Pride in the first match, hitting .700 on seven kills in ten attempts. Uhlir hit .190 in the first match with six kills and ten digs. Natalie Rosinski also tallied six kills.

Katrina O’Neill led the Pride with nine kills, hitting .217 for the second match. Uhlir added eight kills and tallied a team-high 17 digs in the second match. Oakes hit .300 for the second match with eight kills while adding three blocks.

Brienna Laskowski led the Pacers with 23 total kills on the afternoon. She added 26 total digs, with 18 digs coming in the second match. Hannah Collier added 22 kills with 17 digs, 13 of those digs coming in the second match.

The Pride awaits their seeding in the USA South East Division First Round, taking place Wednesday, April 14.
