Abourjilie and Kontoulas Post Three Points as Greensboro College Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C.—Greensboro College’s Austin Abourjilie and Spencer Kontoulas tallied three points each as the Pride dropped a Wednesday afternoon USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) contest to Pfeiffer University, 18-8.

Pfeifer opened the contest with the game’s first ten goals in the first quarter with Quinn Becraft five of Pfeiffer’s goals in the rally.

The Pride countered in the second quarter with four of the next six goals as Ethan Pierce opened scoring for the Pride at the 11:36 mark of the period. Gage Pearman took an Austin Abourjilie feed at the 6:33 mark as the Pride chipped away at the Pfeiffer lead. Davis Miller netted the Pride’s second goal in 49 seconds at the 5:44 mark. Miller sparked momentum again to start the third quarter as he netted a goal down a man at the 13:11 mark.

The Pride’s special teams continued their effort later in the period as Kontoulas sparked momentum at the 1:47 mark of the period on a man-up goal off an Abourjilie feed. Abourjilie would add a goal of his own at the 7:26 mark of the fourth quarter, followed by a Gage Kelly goal from a Kontoulas feed to spark a rally. Pfeiffer added to their advantage at the 3:23 mark on a John Allen goal as Pfeiffer added to their lead on the way to their win.

Abourjilie and Kontoulas each posted one goal and two assists while Miller ended the game with two goals, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Pride returns to action for a USA South contest with William Peace University at 7 p.m.
