Guilford’s Mishoe Earns Ninth Career ODAC Men’s Golfer of the Week Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After wrapping up the 2021 regular season with a third-place finish at the Wynlakes Spring Invitational, highlighted by a second-place performance on the individual leaderboard by James Mishoe, the Guilford golf team added another accolade this week when Mishoe was named as the ODAC Men’s Golfer of the week by the league.

The Top-3 finish helped keep Guilford atop the Golfstat.com rankings national, followed by No. 2 Methodist and No. 3 Huntingdon heading into the ODAC Tournament at Bryan Park in Greensboro on April 25-26.

It marks the ninth time in his career, and fourth time in the 2020-21 campaign, that Mishoe has earned ODAC Men’s Golfer of the Week honors. Mishoe’s first ODAC Men’s Golfer of the week honors this season came on March 10th, after winning the Savannah Invitational in consecutive seasons. He followed that up by receiving the honor on March 24th after successfully defending his 2020 championship and winning his fifth individual crown at the Jekyll Island Collegiate. He claimed his third of the season on April 7th after a fifth-place finish at the Golfweek Division III Spring Invitational.

Mishoe earned ODAC Men’s Golfer of the Week four times during the 2018-19 season (October 8, 2018 / October 22, 2018 / October 29, 2018 / April 22, 2019) and once in the 2017-28 campaign (March 19, 2018).

LOOKING BACK AT WYNLAKES INTERCOLLEGIATE: Both James Mishoe and the Guilford golf team placed third at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate, which came to a close on Tuesday, April 13th in Montgomery, Ala.

The Quakers finished the two-day tournament with a 6-over-par score of 582, closing out the second round with a combined score of 300. Piedmont College was first on the team leaderboard with a 10-under-par score of 566, coming through with a second round 285. Carnegie Mellon leapfrogged Guilford into second, after a second round 283, closing at 6-under-par for the tournament.

James Mishoe was the top individual for the Quakers at the event, tying for second with a 3-under-par score of 141. Mishoe tallied a 74 in the second round after a first round 67.

Also, among the Top-10 finishers for the Quakers was Louis Lambert, who finished in a four-way tie for ninth. Lambert shaved one stroke off his opening round 72 to close out the day with a 71, capping off the tournament with a 1-under-par score of 143.

Jack Lee was one of three players tied for 16th with a 1-over-par score of 145. His opening round 71 was followed by a second round 74.

The remaining two players making up the Guilford scorecard, Addison Manring and Sam Davidson, placed 47th and 53rd, respectively. Manring was 9-over-par with a score of 153 for the two-day event, closing out the second round with an 81, while Davidson was 11-over-par. Davidson added seven strokes to his first round 74, posting an 81 in the second round of play.

Carnegie Mellon’s Jason Folker brought home the individual crown with a 6-under-par score of 138. Folker had the lowest final round score of the afternoon, carding a 67, en route to his win.
