Elon Women’s Track & Field: Distance Group Sets Personal Bests at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Elon University women’s track and field team had six members of its distance group compete at the Virginia Challenge on Friday, April 16, at Lannigan Field.

RESULTS

Scolasticah Kemei posted the second-best time in school history in the 5,000-meters, clocking a time of 16:26.65 and finishing 23rd overall. Leandra Lorenz also broke into the program’s top-10 performance list with a time of 16:58.68 and was 34th while Maggie Springer was close in 36th overall with a time of 17:04.53.

In the 1,500-meters, Melissa Anastsaskis was 12th in the race with her time of 4:21.71 while Anna Twomey broke into the Phoenix’s top-10 performance list with her time of 4:32.39 in 32nd. Hannah Preeo also competed and was 34th with her time of 4:33.37.

The rest of the Phoenix track and field squad will compete at the JMU Invitational on Saturday, April 17.
