Three Pride Attackers Net Three Goals as Greensboro College Takes Road Win at William Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.—William Beyer (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford), Spencer Kontoulas (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford), and Davis Miller each netted three goals each as the Pride claimed a Saturday evening USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) victory over William Peace University, 13-9.

Beyer and Miller teamed up to score the Pride’s first three goals of the contest through the first 3:47 of the period to claim an early 3-0 lead. Miller’s third goal came 3:11 later at the 8:02 mark of the period as the Pride extended their lead, 5-1. Kontoulas notched his first goal of the contest with 29 seconds remaining in the second quarter as the Pride responded to a three-goal William Peace run to close the first quarter and begin the second.

William Peace’s Devin Noonan opened the third quarter with a goal at the 10:29 mark to cut the Pride’s lead down, 8-6. Beyer reignited a charge for the Pride to start a three-goal rally at the 7:37 mark of the period as Ethan Pierce fed Beyer the ball to extend the Pride’s lead back to five. Kontoulas netted his third goal of the night with 3:03 remaining in the contest as he received a pass from Aaron Larios-Neubert as the Pride held off the Pacers with both teams trading a pair of goals in the final three minutes to claim the win.

Miller added three ground balls and a caused turnover to his three-goal night. Beyer and Kontoulas added a ground ball each. Austin Abourjilie (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford/William Peace) chipped in two goals.

Nick Falso led William Peace with four goals and an assist with five ground balls. Scout Phillip added two goals and an assist.

Christopher Stallings (8-2) took the win in net for the Pride, making 15 saves and adding three ground balls. Nick Shelton (1-2) took the loss in net for the Pacers, stopping eight shots.

The Pride return for their final regular-season home game of the season Monday, hosting Averett University for a 3 p.m. contest on Pride Field.
