Zane Smith Holds Individual Lead as Greensboro College Sits First Through 18-Holes at Hampden-Sydney Invitational

FARMVILLE, Va.—Greensboro College’s Zane Smith posted the Hampden-Sydney Invitational’s lowest-round of the day at three-under-par 69 as the Pride stands first out of 13 teams through 18-holes of the 36-hole Hampden-Sydney Invitational at The Manor Golf Club.

Smith posted three birdies and no bogeys in the lowest-round in the field. The senior’s three-under-par score sits at the top of the individual leaderboard by three strokes over a group of six golfers at even-par. Smith posted a two-under-par front-nine with two birdies, including the Pride’s only birdie on the par-five, 561-yard sixth hole and the par-four, 410-yard eighth hole. Smith posted his lone back-nine birdie on the par-four, 281-yard 16th hole to claim the individual lead.

Jerrion Dukes posted the Pride’s second-lowest score playing as an individual, sitting in a tie for eighth with a one-over-par 73. Dukes eagled the par-five, 561-yard sixth hole for his lone under-par performance on the front-nine. The sophomore produced three-straight birdies on the back-nine’s 13th, 14th, and 15th holes. His birdie on the par-five, 549-yard 13th was the lone birdie for the Pride on that hole on the day. His birdie on the par-three, 158-yard 15th hole was also the lone birdie for the Pride on the short par-three hole.

Zack Swink and Davis Reynolds tied for the second-lowest score in the Pride’s five-player group, each posting four-over-par 76 scores. Both Swink and Reynolds each birdied the par-five, 503-yard second hole and the par-five, 498-yard 18th hole as each golfer posted a 38 on each the front and back-nine holes.

The Pride finish the 36-hole Hampden-Sydney Invitational tomorrow.
