Elon Women’s Soccer Prepares to Face Off Against Milwaukee in Opening Round of NCAA Championship

ELON, N.C.— The Elon University women’s soccer team will make its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship on Wednesday, April 28 when it matches up against Milwaukee in the first round at WakeMed Field in Cary, N.C. at 3 p.m.

THE SERIES
-This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

ABOUT ELON

-The Phoenix enters the match with a 6-3 (3-1 CAA) record.
-For the first time in program history, Elon earned its first Colonial Athletic Association Championship title as it recorded a 1-0 win over UNCW on April 17. The win marked the second time in program history that the Phoenix defeated the Seahawks.
-The maroon and gold also outlasted No. 23 Hofstra in the CAA Championship Semifinals (1-0), earning its first-ever win against the Pride.
-Elon is led by third-year head coach Neil Payne.

SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
-The Panthers hold an 8-1-1 (7-1-0 HORIZON) record on the season.
-Milwaukee was crowned the Horizon League champion on April 17 when it defeated Northern Kentucky in a penalty-kick shootout, 4-3.
-Wednesday’s matchup will be the team’s third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 13th with the Horizon League’s automatic bid.
-The head coach of Milwaukee is Troy Fabiano.
