Former Post 87s Tyrese Hearst, Chet Sikes join HiToms in 2021

High Point/Thomasville, NC – The pipeline from HiToms Post 87 baseball to the Coastal Plain League is as strong as it ever has been. The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are pleased to announce the additions of Catcher Chet Sikes and Pitcher Tyrese Hearst to the 2021 roster.

Tyrese is entering his third year with the HiToms, appearing in 18 games over the past two seasons. In 2020, Hearst improved upon his 2019 numbers in eight appearances, posting a 1-0 record with a 2.00 ERA. In two years at Catawba, the Junior has sharpened his pitching, earning a spot in the rotation for the 2021 South Atlantic Conference regular season champions. Hearst was an impact player for the Indians in their successful regular season, ending with a career-best 3.90 ERA and a 3-0 record. In his career, Hearst has a 4.89 ERA with 96 strikeouts across 130.2 innings.

An NC Central Eagle, Chet Sikes has been a candidate for MEAC Freshman of the Year, batting .338 over 18 games played early in his college career. A Trinity, NC native and graduate of Wesleyan Christian Academy, Sikes has a history of offensive success. Sikes took a step forward in his senior year at Wesleyan, batting .538 for the fantastic Wesleyan program.

Sikes was a member of the 2020 NC3 HiToms last summer, helping secure the NC3 championship. This summer, Sikes brings his elite bat to the Coastal Plain League.
