Guilford Quakers Conclude Women’s Lacrosse Slate Versus Southern Virginia

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Southern Virginia netted 11 first half goal en route to a 19-10 victory on Guilford’s Senior Day on May 1, 2021. Alissa Johnson led the way offensively for the Knights, netting five goals, while Guilford was led by Alli Earwood’s six.

Audrey Helfenbein opened scoring with a goal at the 29:22 mark, following a pass from McCaine Brandt, but it was five straight goals by the Knights that provided them with a 5-1 advantage.

Brandt got in on the action herself with a goal at the 16-minute mark, but Southern Virginia answered with four straight goals to make for a 9-2 lead.

Earwood struck the back of the net with 5:41 left in the opening half to make for the third goal. Maggie Hartnett followed with the fourth goal of the game with 1:02. Earwood tacked on her second goal of the half with 43 seconds left to make for an 11-5 score at the intermission.

Southern Virginia tallied eight goals in the second half, including three from Alissa Johnson. Earwood countered with four of her own and Brandt drove home a strike at the 13:01 mark to make for the 19-10 final.

Guilford’s Kersten Daneau finished off her final game with eight saves while Jessica Webb tallied six for Southern Virginia.

Nia Gill led Guilford (3-4) with nine ground balls, while Southern Virginia received five each from Hannah Davis and Chloe Mitchell.
