Elon Phoenix Falls to Towson in Opening Round of CAA WLAX Championship

HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Elon University women’s lacrosse team came up short against Towson in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship presented by Primis on May 5, 16-6.

BOX SCORE

“It’s certainly not the way we thought we would perform today,” said head coach Josh Hexter. “But I’m very proud of our defense and Paulina DiFatta. They showed up early and made great stops. But our offense never showed up and that allowed for Towson to have just too many opportunities. It’s disappointing for sure. Overall, I’m very proud of our senior class. They’ve been inspiring leaders this year and last and I’m very thankful for them.”

THE RUNDOWN
-The Tigers opened the contest with a 4-1 lead through the first 18 minutes of play. Elon responded with back-to-back goals from Margaret Stephan and Bella Feldmann to cut the Towson lead to one (4-3), but another 4-1 run from the Tigers in the final ten minutes of the half gave Towson a four-goal advantage going into intermission.
-Towson’s momentum carried into the second half as the Tigers outscored the Phoenix 8-2 to secure the win.
