GSO Hoppers’ Homers:Liover Peguero Solo HR in the bottom of the first inning….This was his second home run of the young season and Peguero has driven in four runs, so far this season/through two games…HR for Nick Gonzales, his was a two-run shot in the 7th Inning, and gave GSO two big insurance runs….
HIC Crawdads’ Homer:Blaine Crim with his first of the season, and it was a solo HR to left field, in the second inning…
Hoppers up early in this game, 1-0 end of one inning…Dads tie the game, at 1-1 in the second inning, on the Crim HR…Hoppers went up 3-1 in the 3rd Inning, and then Hickory tied the game up again, at 3-3, in the 4th Inning…Hoppers move ahead 4-3, in the bottom of the 4th frame, but it is still a ball game, when HIC scores another run in the top of the 5th, to even the ledger at 4-4, GSO and HIC tied up in a knot….The Hoppers moved in front for good, on Matthew Gorski’s go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th Inning…Two more Hoppers’ runs in the the seventh, on that two-run shot by Nick Gonzales, and then the Hoppers final tally came in the on a run scored by Jared Triolo….
Among the Hoppers leading hitters you had Peguero going 2-5 with three runs scored and 1 RBI, which came on his lead-off HR in the bottom of the first inning…Hoppers Nick Gonzales was 2-4, with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI…His two RBI came on his two-run HR in the 7th…Jared Triolo was 2-4, with a run scored….RF LoLo Sanchez was 2-3 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI….Matt Frazier went 2-4, and he had 2 RBI….
The Hoppers pitching staff struck out 15 HIC Crawdads and HIC took down 8 Hoppers, by way of the K…Tuesday night, Hickory struck out 16 Greensboro Grasshoppers batters…Tonight the role was reversed…Wednesday’s starting Hoppers pitcher, Tahnaj Thomas struck out 7 Hickory batters and he gave up one run on one hit, a home run, and Thomas went 3 Innings for the Hoppers, on the Hill….The Hoppers winning pitcher, Bear Bellomy, went 2 2/3’s innings, and gave up no runs, on no hits, and he struck out three Crawdad batters….Two innings of scoreless relief work, with three big strikeouts, allowed the Hoppers Oliver Garcia to earn the save, his first of 2021….
The Crawdads starting pitcher, Cole Ragans, a first round pick by the Texas Rangers back in 2016, gave up 3 runs in 3 innings, plus LP Tyler Thomas allowed 2 runs in three innings, and the ‘Dads Jesus Linares was touched up for 3 runs, in 2 innings….
