Greensboro Grasshoppers drop second straight game to the Hickory Crawdads on Mom’s Day Eve(Garcia Grand Slam difference in the game)

On the the day before Mothers’s Day/Mom’s Day Eve, the Hickory Crawdads/’Dads took out the Greensboro Grasshoppers for the second straight night….

Final Score from First National Bank Field on Saturday night:
Hickory Crawdads 4, Greensboro Grasshoppers 2
A Grand Slam home run by Hickory’s David Garcia, in the Top of the First Inning, was the difference in this game…The Hoppers fell behind 4-0 early on that Grand Salami and never recovered…The Hoppers got close, as they were down 4-2 and they had the bases loaded in the bottom of the eight inning, but the Hoppers left the bases loaded, and this left the ‘Dads in the lead and the Hoppers would not threaten again in the contest, your final again, ‘Dads 4, Hoppers 2…

The ‘Dads only came up with two hits on the night versus the Hoppers pitching, but one of those was the blow from David Garcia…After the Hoppers starting pitcher Omar Cruz gave up the Garcia slam, the Hoppers bullpen threw shutout baseball the rest of the way…Will Kobos faced nine ‘Dad batters and took down all nine in order….Kobos went three innings for the Hoppers…Colin Selby worked two innings out of the Hoppers pen and only allowed one base runner, and that man reached on an error….Selby struck out two ‘Dad batters and Kobos also struck out two Crawdads…The Hoppers final man from the bullpen, Oliver Garcia, gave up no runs, on one hit, while walking one Crawdad, hitting one Crawdad with a pitch, and striking out two more Crawdad batters…

The Hoppers bullpen gave up NO runs on Saturday night….Kobos was great, Selby was a new man, after struggling in his first outing earlier in the series, and Garcia felt some heat, but came out of it, unscathed….Grade A for the Hoppers pen on Saturday night….

Nick Gonzales goes 3-3 with two doubles and a run scored for the Grasshoppers at the plate…Gonzales also drew a walk so he was on base after all four of his at bats, on Saturday….One hiccup for Gonzales came after his first single, which was an infield ground ball, that Hickory’s Jonathan Ornelas threw wild on, from SS to first base…Gonzales rounded first and he had the infield single, but ‘Dads catcher David Garcia was backing up the errant throw from Ornelas past first baseman Jake Guenther, and Garcia put the tag on Gonazales, and Gonzales was gone…

Fabricia Macias went 2-4 for the Hoppers at the plate, Francisco Acuna homered for the Hoppers on a solok blast to the left field berm, Aaron Shacleford had a ground ball double down the right side that drove in a run, while LoLo Sanchez and Matt Frazier also came up with hits(singles) for the Hoppers….Nine hits on the night for the Hoppers, while the Crawdads only came up with two hits, but again, one their hits was the Grand Slam by Garcia…
