NCHSAA 4A Softball Championship Game 1 | East Forsyth needs extras but forces Game 3 with 1-0 win in 10 over Hoggard

LEXINGTON, NC – After a sparkling night from Hoggard pitcher Icess Tresvik in Game 1, East Forsyth’s Kierston Deal outdueled her in a 10-inning thriller for Game 2, as the Eagles outlasted the Vikings 1-0. A decisive Game 3 in the 4A State Championship Series is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight at North Davidson High School in Lexington.

Deal and Tresvik matched each other pitch for pitch, as Deal struck out 16 and issued just one walk in the game. Tresvik struck out 12 but issued six free passes, which proved not to be an issue, as she was able to work around the traffic. Both pitchers allowed just four hits.

East Forsyth struck the game-deciding blow in the bottom of the 10th. Kaitlyn King led off the Eagle tenth with a bunt single. She managed to advance to third on a sacrifice bunt by Sophie Lecnar. Then with one out and the winning run at third, Kendall Bowman placed a single to the right side on a 1-2 pitch bringing King home for the 1-0 victory.
