HiToms American Legion Tryouts Scheduled for Saturday

High Point/Thomasville, NC – This Saturday, May 22nd, at 10:30am, the High Point-Thomasville HiToms will be running tryouts for their three American Legion Baseball teams. As a part of the HiToms organization, American Legion players, age 14-19, learn the tools to become the future leaders of our state while also building their baseball acumen. This weekend’s tryouts will be held at Trinity High School.

The HiToms American Legion program is coming off a successful 2020. In the midst of a pandemic, the Post 87 HiToms took home the NC3 championship, while American Legion baseball cancelled their season. This season, with Legion baseball back, a full American Legion schedule is returning. In addition to the home schedule, Finch Field will be the hosts for the North Carolina Junior American Legion Championship.

American Legion Baseball describes their mission as one to promote “the importance of sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship.” The number one goal for the Post 87s is to produce community leaders and productive baseball players to the local community. Through the long and successful history of the HiToms, players have been taught the tenets of baseball and life, becoming successful adults in the community.

“The HiToms are excited once again to bring Legion Baseball to the High Point-Thomasville community,” said Greg Suire, President of the HiToms. “We are thrilled to be able to support the baseball dreams of our local student athletes.”
