Greenville, S.C. – Three Catamounts collected Southern Conference All-Tournament team accolades following Sunday’s title game. The awards are voted on by the media in attendance by an in-game voting tabulation.
Fifth-year senior Luke Robinson, who only caught one of the four games WCU played due to an ankle injury suffered before the first game on Thursday, was selected to the honorary squad behind the plate. Junior outfielder Justice Bigbie and shortstop Pascanel Ferreras joined him on the 12-member team announced in the special postgame ceremony.
Bigbie finished with a team-best 11 hits as he batted .647 in the four games of the tournament, tallying a double and a home run with four RBI and a .882 slugging percentage. He reached base 70-percent of the time, adding a trio of walks.
Ferreras paced the Catamounts with three home runs and 10 RBI, adding a pair of doubles as five of the freshman’s seven hits went for extra bases. Ferreras finished the tournament with a .389 average and scored a team-best six runs. Robinson batted .444 with eight hits including a double and two home runs, plating six and scoring three times in his final tournament appearance.
Western Carolina (28-21) eliminated top-seeded Wofford with two wins over the Terriers at Fluor Field, but lost both games against the Bulldogs including Sunday’s walk-off defeat, 8-6, in the title game.
